Emergency Generator Sets refers to a power generation device that can quickly or automatically start and restore power supply in case of emergency or power outage due to accidents and maintenance. When ensuring fast start and high reliability, diesel engines have always been the preferred technology. It is precisely because diesel engines are stable, reliable, have few auxiliary equipment, and start quickly that emergency generator sets often use diesel generator sets. Mainly used for hospitals, communications, civil aviation, transportation, power stations, high-rise buildings, and special product manufacturing enterprises that cannot interrupt power supply.

In case of emergency, the emergency generator set can quickly restore and extend the power supply time for a period of time. However, for communication equipment, computer systems, instruments, and special product production that have strict requirements for power outage time, in addition to being equipped with generator sets, they should also be powered by batteries or UPS.

Classification of Emergency Generator Sets:

1. According to their purpose, emergency generator sets can be classified into fixed emergency generator sets, mobile emergency generator sets (i.e. mobile generator sets), and marine emergency generator sets. Among them, fixed emergency generator sets can be classified by function into: emergency diesel generator sets, nuclear power plant emergency diesel generator sets, and black start diesel generator sets; 2. According to the engine speed, emergency generator sets can be classified into high-speed emergency generator sets (speed greater than 1000 r/min) and medium speed emergency generator sets (speed 400-1000 r/min). Among them, medium speed emergency generator sets are mostly used for power plant peak shaving and nuclear power plant emergency.

Characteristics of Emergency Generator Sets:

1. Emergency, with short continuous working hours, generally only requiring a few hours of continuous operation per day (≤ 12 hours); 2. Backup: The emergency generator set is usually in standby mode. Only when the main power supply fails and loses power, the emergency generator set will start running to supply emergency power loads. When the main power supply returns to normal, it will switch to shutdown.
